Not if you're not actually building your own dream. Something is always going to be missing, because you're spending your time building someone else's vision instead of yours. I just didn't understand that yet. Not until I got pregnant with my daughter. ## The Moment Everything Got Validated Being pregnant didn't create these feelings in me. It confirmed them. All I wanted was to be home with her, and I couldn't be. I had the best schedule I was ever going to get. My boss was genuinely a good boss. On paper, there was nothing else to ask for. And it still wasn't enough, because the job itself was never the problem. Wanting to be present for my daughter's life while also needing to provide for her felt like being pulled in two directions with no map for how to close that gap. Then I lost my job. Company hardships, nothing I did wrong, completely out of my control. And in that moment, every missed bedtime, every rushed morning, every long commute, every bit of mom guilt I had been carrying came rushing back at once. All the times I put my daughter last for a job that was never going to give me what I actually wanted. It felt icky. That's the moment I stopped building someone else's dream life. I didn't go back to the workforce. I tried Amazon FBA first, and honestly, it took more money and more work than it was ever worth. But I finally found something I could build in the pockets of my time, around my family, without sacrificing the moments with my daughter that I used to lose to a commute. I can be with her all day and still work from home. I can build slow, a few hours here and there, or I can build fast if I want to put in more time. If I ever want to take this offline, meet people face to face, that's possible too. The point isn't the exact shape it takes. The point is that it's mine to shape. That's what an online business really offers a woman who's ready for more flexibility: a schedule that fits around your life, instead of a life that has to fit around a schedule someone else made for you. No more asking for time off. No more working only when you're "supposed to." No boss but you.
