Climb. Achieve. Build a résumé you could be proud of. I chased that shape hard, and for a long time, I thought that was the whole point. ## The Dream I Thought I Had to Protect Before my daughter, my dream had a very clear outline. A title. A trajectory. A version of success I could point to and say, see, I did that. I worked for it, and I got good at it, and I told myself that was what having a dream actually meant. My dream became centered around my daughter. Not smaller. Not gone. Centered somewhere new. That's such a different thing than losing your ambition. It's not shrinking. It's a dream that finally has a center of gravity it didn't have before. Every choice I make now, every hour I spend building something, orbits around her in a way my old career goals never orbited around anything but my own résumé. I think that's the piece so many ambitious women over 40 never quite get to say out loud. We're not less driven after becoming mothers. More family time, not more titles. The dream life I'm building that she gets to watch happen right in front of her, instead of hearing about it secondhand.
